Northview Technology was created to provide practical, straightforward technology help to individuals and small businesses without unnecessary complexity, jargon, or pressure to purchase products or services they don't need.
I'm Brian Stadtherr, the owner and founder of Northview Technology. I bring 25 years of experience in information technology, including 20 years in IT leadership roles. My background spans hands-on technical support, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, IT operations, and technology strategy.
Throughout my career, one principle has remained consistent: technology should make people's lives and work easier. When it becomes unreliable, confusing, or unnecessarily complicated, it stops doing its job.
Northview Technology brings that philosophy to homeowners, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations throughout the Twin Cities.
A Practical Approach to Technology
Good technology support starts with understanding the problem before recommending a solution.
That might mean repairing an existing computer instead of replacing it, improving Wi-Fi coverage instead of simply purchasing a more expensive router, or helping a small business make better use of the technology it already owns.
My approach is to explain the options, identify the tradeoffs, and recommend solutions that make sense for the situation and budget.
I believe customers should understand what they're paying for and why a particular solution is being recommended.
Experience From the Help Desk to IT Leadership
My career has taken me from hands-on technical support to senior IT leadership, including responsibility for enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT operations, and technology strategy.
I've supported individual users, managed technical teams, and led technology operations across organizations with multiple locations and complex infrastructure.
Much of my professional experience has been in healthcare and nonprofit organizations, where technology must support essential services while meeting demanding operational, security, and regulatory requirements.
That combination of technical and leadership experience allows me to look beyond the immediate problem and consider the larger environment around it.
Whether I'm troubleshooting a home computer or helping a business evaluate its cybersecurity risks, I bring the same practical, problem-solving approach.
Professional Experience & Expertise
My experience includes:
- Mergers & acquisitions: Led technology integrations associated with more than a dozen mergers and acquisitions, including networks, infrastructure, systems, users, and operational processes.
- Cybersecurity assessments: Performed security, risk, and control assessments to identify vulnerabilities, operational gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Healthcare IT & compliance: Supported healthcare organizations with technology, security, and risk-management practices associated with HIPAA and HITECH requirements.
- Networking & monitoring: Designed, implemented, upgraded, and supported wired, wireless, WAN, and multi-site network environments, including network monitoring and management solutions.
- Infrastructure & cloud: Experience with servers, virtualization, Microsoft 365, Azure, identity management, backups, disaster recovery, and related infrastructure.
- IT operations: Led service desk operations, vendor management, documentation, procurement, technology planning, budgeting, and operational improvement.
- Cybersecurity implementation: Experience with multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, account security, security awareness, access controls, backup strategies, and practical risk reduction.

Technology decisions can be difficult when you don't have the experience or resources to evaluate every available option.
Small businesses, in particular, may rely on outside IT providers without having someone internally who can independently evaluate technology recommendations, security practices, or long-term IT needs.
